Elevate Extension ("Elevate", "we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension for YouTube creators that provides studio theming, video tag viewing, thumbnail downloading, and other productivity tools. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Information We Collect

Elevate collects and processes the minimum amount of data necessary to provide its functionality:

• Discord Authentication Data: When you sign in with Discord, we receive your Discord user ID, username, display name, and avatar URL solely to verify your Elevate membership. This data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage and is never transmitted to any external server controlled by us.
• Extension Settings: Your feature preferences (toggle states, accent color, dashboard layout) are stored locally on your device using the Chrome Storage API. These settings sync across your Chrome browsers via your Google account if Chrome Sync is enabled — this is a built-in Chrome feature, not controlled by us.

Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

• We do not collect browsing history or activity data.
• We do not collect personally identifiable information beyond what Discord provides during sign-in.
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry of any kind.
• We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.
• We do not store any data on external servers. All data remains on your device.
• We do not access or collect YouTube account credentials.

How We Use Permissions

Elevate requests the following browser permissions, each for a specific purpose:

• activeTab: Used to apply visual modifications (studio theming, tag display, thumbnail download buttons) to the currently active YouTube or YouTube Studio tab when you interact with the extension.
• storage: Used to save your extension preferences (feature toggles, accent color, dashboard card layout, authentication state) locally on your device.
• scripting: Used to inject content scripts into YouTube and YouTube Studio pages to provide features like tag viewing, studio theming, streamer mode, and dashboard rearranging.
• tabs: Used to monitor tab navigation during the Discord sign-in flow so the extension can detect when authentication is complete and close the sign-in tab automatically.
• Host permissions (youtube.com, studio.youtube.com, img.youtube.com, i.ytimg.com): Required to run content scripts on YouTube pages and to fetch video/channel metadata (tags) and thumbnail images for the download feature. The extension only operates on YouTube-related domains.

Third-Party Services

Elevate interacts with the following third-party services:

• Discord (discord.com): Used for authentication. When you sign in, your browser communicates directly with Discord's OAuth2 API to verify your identity and Elevate membership. We use a server-side callback hosted on Vercel to securely exchange the authentication code — your Discord access token is never stored on our server and is only passed back to the extension via a URL fragment.
• YouTube (youtube.com, studio.youtube.com): The extension reads publicly available page data (video tags, channel tags, thumbnail URLs) from YouTube pages you visit. No data is sent to YouTube on your behalf.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete all extension data at any time by:

• Clicking the sign-out button in the extension popup (clears authentication data).
• Uninstalling the extension (removes all stored data).
• Clearing your browser's extension storage via Chrome settings.

Data Security

Your data is protected by Chrome's built-in extension storage security. Authentication with Discord uses the industry-standard OAuth2 authorization code flow with CSRF protection. The Discord client secret is stored securely as a server-side environment variable and is never exposed to the browser.

Children's Privacy

Elevate is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using this extension, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
